Vice President, Chapter Relations

The Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) is a not-for-profit, member based organization working to improve trust in Canadian Organizations by supporting Canadian Directors and Boards across the for-profit, not-for-profit and Crown sectors. The ICD’s purpose is to improve trust and confidence in Canadian organizations by developing and activating Directors.
 
The ICD has more than 13,500 members in 11 Chapters across Canada and fosters the sharing of knowledge and wisdom through education, professional development programs | services and thought leadership to the highest standard of directorship. ICD members across all sectors of the economy oversee well in excess of $1 trillion in market capitalization and institutions that impact the lives of virtually every Canadian.
 
Each year, the ICD hosts a highly-regarded National Conference and Fellowship Awards Gala that brings together seasoned directors, executives and industry leaders for two days of thought leadership, networking and celebration. They examine emerging boardroom issues and deliver dynamic learning, dialogue and cutting-edge insight for directors.
 
Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Chapter Relations (VP) serves as an ambassador for the organization, with responsibility for creating and maintaining full partnership relationships with ICD Chapters. S/he will gain deep understanding of their concerns and priorities and develop meaningful and sustained relationships with Chapter Chairs and members. Working with other members of the senior management team, the Vice President, Chapter Relations will develop the plan to deliver the ICD’s strategic goal to “Enable local leadership”. S/he will proactively facilitate equipping Chapters with the resources necessary to attract and engage local contributors to board leadership who are personally committed to our shared ICD Purpose. The Vice President, Chapter Relations will operate in a way that helps the ICD to achieve its strategic goal to “Build Operational Excellence”.
 
With the important mandate of the ICD, the organization is seeking a sophisticated business leader with experience building collaborative connections with stakeholders in evolving a national organization. As an integral member of the senior management team, the VP must be capable of providing executive leadership in establishing and fostering strong and on-going relationships with Chapter Chairs, their executive teams and senior volunteers, acting as the Chapter advocate at the National level and the National advocate with the Chapters.
 
A natural facilitator and relationship builder, you bring a proven ability to engage partners and other resources to foster collaboration between Chapters and the organization. You have lead others through influence to pursue and capture opportunities in member engagement and acquisition. You are bilingual - inclusive, professional and action-oriented, you have a track record of mobilizing the efforts and talents of others towards shared goals.

Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Membership

With the important purpose of the ICD, the organization is seeking a commercially minded, purpose-driven, sales and marketing leader with experience building a cohesive high performing sales | marketing | membership | sponsorship team that will deliver financial growth and spur significant increase in impact and reach.  As an integral member of the senior management team, the VP must be capable of providing executive leadership in the development and implementation of sales, marketing and sponsorship strategies, and promoting the ICD with national Chapters, current and prospective members, and public and private sector organizations to garner positive profile, increased membership and member engagement.

Director, Sponsorships

Reporting to the Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Membership, the Director, Sponsorships is responsible for corporate, conference and other sponsorship, and revenue generation and diversification for the ICD. Employing a collaborative approach, the Director will execute strategies to leverage current strengths in conference sponsorships, and expand the reach of sponsorships by forging strong relationships with new corporations.

As an ideal candidate, you have a proven track record of building highly effective sponsorship programs that actively seek out and capitalize on business opportunities. Marketing Communications Coordinator

 
The Role

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Sales, and working on a variety of Marketing & Sales projects from inception to completion, the Marketing Communications Coordinator will assist in the planning, and be responsible for the successful implementation, monitoring and reporting of marketing & sales campaigns, ensuring projects are delivered within budgets and timelines.

Approximately 50% of this role will deal with marketing content development, copy writing and proof reading, and the remaining will be spent on planning, administrative marketing coordination, database tasks, research, etc. Bilingualism (French/English) would be an asset.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Marketing Campaign Coordination
  • Assist and work on planning segmented marketing communication campaigns
  • Coordinate campaign implementation with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
  • Monitor progress of campaigns based on objectives and recommend appropriate actions where necessary
  • Maintain regularly updated trackers and reports
 
Project Execution
  • Coordinate the development of marketing emails, direct mails, ads (online and print) and other marketing collateral, including preparing copy, editing and proof reading
  • Work with key marketing suppliers (mailing house, print shops, design agency, etc.) to ensure timely and accurate execution of campaigns
  • Build e-mail and direct mail packages within branding guidelines (letters, supplements and mailing lists)
  • Coordinate ads with stakeholders and vendors to ensure they are prepared on time and as per advertising agreements
  • Assist with identifying appropriate advertising channels, obtaining competitive quotes and confirming ad bookings
  • Review and update website content and assist with site maintenance
  • Learn to setup and dispatch emails using the ICD’s preferred email content management system
  • Source and coordinate French translation needs with a reliable agency
 
List, database and trackers management (research, data-entry, de-duping, updating, pulling lists)
  • Learn to use and pull database lists from the ICD’s iMIS engagement management system
  • Assist with entering data into our database/trackers and ensuring that pertinent information is captured (ex: e-mail addresses)
  • Assist with database clean-up and maintenance of our do not mail lists
 
Research
  • Conduct market research, including research calls as required
 
Testimonials
  • Short listing and reaching out to potential testimonial providers for the purpose of promoting membership, education courses or any other ICD related services/product
 
Sales Leads:
  • Appropriate follow-up with inquiries pertaining to membership, education and/or any other ICD service/product
  • Understanding ICD services/products in order to provide options and/or solutions to sales leads
 
Administrative Duties:
  • Ensure all ICD Education Courses and Events are listed on other member association/industry specific sites where the option is available
  • Monitor expenses by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts
  • Prepare marketing reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing campaign data.

Bilingual Coordinator, Member Relations

The Position: The Bilingual Coordinator, Member Relations will be responsible for assisting the member engagement team in the execution of the ICD’s membership renewal process, new member processing and other membership and marketing services support as required or assigned.
 
Reporting and Relationships: The position reports to the Director, Board Opportunities.
 
Specific Accountabilities: 
  • Member Services
    • Responding promptly and efficiently to member inquiries, concerns and requests.
    • Actively reaching out to and communicating with new and renewing members as part of the engagement strategy.
    • Following established operating procedures, preparing monthly membership renewal correspondence and invoices.
    • Processing membership applications, and preparing / sending new member kits.
    • Participating in the annual renewals cycle and assisting in collecting receivables.
  • Database Hygiene and Reporting
    • Ensuring the accuracy of the ICD database information by inputting, reviewing and updating information on a regular basis.
    • Providing timely and accurate data and statistics for membership reports and other departmental needs.
  • Other Duties
    • Assisting with coverage on reception when needed.
 
Qualifications: Essential Skills and Experience
 
Applicants should have the following experience and skills: 
  • Fluently bilingual in English and French with excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages (a must).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Completion of a post‐secondary program.
  • Related experience in customer relations, communications, administration, preferably in a not‐ for‐profit / member association environment.
  • Computer literate with database software, and confident working with numbers and data.
  • Possesses a high degree of efficiency, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the exercising of tact, discretion and judgment at all times and with all levels of individuals, e.g. colleagues, Boards of Directors, volunteers, members, and the public.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and time‐management skills.
  • Ability to address member concerns, within scope of position, with effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Web and electronic media savvy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft products, Excel, Adobe, PDF Reader and Writer, and related software.
  • A professional image and confident approach.
  • Ability to attend events as required, including during times outside of normal business hours.
  • Self‐directed, with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
