Director in Residence
Phyllis Clark has had three segments to her working career.
Most recently, she serves on Boards in a variety of sectors. She is Chair of the Royal Canadian Mint and the Edmonton Symphony and Concert Hall Foundation. As a Director, she sits on the Board of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, (on its Audit, the Enterprise Risk Management and Investment Committees); serves on the Inuvialuit Investment Committee, is treasurer of the Glenn Gould Foundation and sits on the University Hospital Foundation (on its Finance and Audit Committee). She has had the pleasure of being on a variety of other Boards including the Bank of Canada where she chaired the Audit Committee.
In the Post-Secondary Education Sector, she worked in two major Canadian Universities as Vice-President of Finance & Administration - the University of Alberta for 14 years and York University for 6 years. That work opened the door of doing quality assessments for the Association of Commonwealth Universities’ Strategic
Management Programme and for the Post-Secondary Quality Assessment Board in Ontario and British Columbia.
She served in several positions for the Province of Ontario at the Assistant Deputy Minister level, including as the Chief Economist for the Province of Ontario.
These experiences provided many opportunities to engage in sectoral committees and organizations in Canada providing insights into stimulating topics and issues.
She earned an undergraduate BA at the University of Toronto, a Masters and PhD Candidacy at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Recently, her learning has continued mainly around governance, cyber risk and ESG topics while continuing working on French.
