A report by Rotman School of Business observed, "To many entrepreneurs, the word 'governance' wrongly evokes two of the most terrifying ideas imaginable: bureaucracy and loss of control." Yet, one of the most basic principles of 'governance' is decision-making, and every organization needs to find the structure that will yield the best decisions to help it achieve its long-term strategies.

This session focuses on the different governance structures available to private/family companies and not-for-profits, and explores the pros and cons of family councils, advisory boards and fiduciary boards.

The experts on our panel will explain how their organizations designed structures that were most effective for them, and will share their experiences and provide practical suggestions on how to make your board more effective.
