The ICD Maritime Chapter has identified equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as a priority. The value of diversifying leadership and membership, and introducing just and equitable decisions across the table, has been broadly recognized.

To successfully introduce an EDI strategy that will drive inclusivity across member boards, there needs to be an understanding of the history of colonialism and its lasting impact on racialized minorities.

With a primary focus on the barriers facing racialized minorities, this session will present a foundation for the
understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion. It will engage members to create safe steps and practices when recruiting underrepresented talent onto boards. This session will challenge participants to create equitable structures and practices that foster engagement and productivity with new board members.

This will be an interactive workshop that allows participants to engage in meaningful discussion and discovery.  The speaker will facilitate group discussions and present on the topic of EDI in the boardroom, and more generally, in Atlantic Canada.
