The Basics of Governance (BOG) introduces new and aspiring directors to the core principles of governance and boardroom effectiveness. The course provides the essential understanding needed to participate confidently in board discussions and from director roles and fiduciary duties to meeting etiquette, decision-making, and financial oversight.
As an on-demand learning experience, BOG helps first-time directors overcome the initial learning curve with practical, accessible content that builds confidence and prepares them for real board participation. It removes the intimidation factor of joining a board for the first time and empowers participants to contribute effectively from their very first meeting.
Positioned as the starting point in ICD’s education pathway, BOG lays the foundation for continued learning through the Governance Essentials Program (GEP) and Strengthening Governance Foundations (SGF).
