Leadership During Crisis

Whether a private or public company, a Crown corporation, not-for-profit or government agency, every enterprise will face a crisis sooner or later. When that crisis hits, the organization’s ability to address the disaster will be determined by the effectiveness of the response. The preparation, skills, and judgement of its senior management and board of directors, along with the support by their external advisors, are crucial.

Get a local government perspective from those who directed the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre during the Central Okanagan’s Grouse Complex wildfire which saw more than 25,000 residents evacuated and 25,000 more on evacuation alert. Board Chair Loyal Wooldridge and RDCO Chief Administrative Officer Sally Ginter will discuss leading their board and staff through the 2023 wildfires as they raced through the communities in the Central Okanagan including Kelowna, West Kelowna, Lake Country, Westbank First Nation and the region’s Electoral Areas. Listen as they share their experiences, lessons learned, and advice for both leaders and governance professionals, on how to work together to successfully overcome unprecedented circumstances.
