Navigating CEO Succession: Tools for Boards

Overseeing and appointing a CEO is among the most significant responsibilities entrusted to a board. Directors play a critical role in preparing for leadership transitions that protect organizational stability and support future growth. Doing this well requires aligning leadership with strategy, culture, and long-term priorities, while thoughtfully navigating stakeholder expectations.

This session will focus on leading practices in CEO succession planning, featuring a moderated discussion with one moderator and two panelists who will share insights and practical experience. Topics will include:

• Building clear, well-structured succession plans

• Identifying leadership needs aligned with organizational direction and values

• Preparing boards and organizations for smooth leadership transitions

• Navigating stakeholder expectations during periods of change
