NFP Board Boot Camp: Lead with Confidence

Stepping into board service for the first time is significant — and building a strong foundation matters.

ICD GTA Chapter is hosting an NFP Board Boot Camp, a focused, one-day program designed for directors in their first year or two of not-for-profit governance. The program objective is to increase directors' skills and confidence and provide a network of fellow directors at a similar stage.

Through expert-led sessions and real-world case studies, we will examine the duties, responsibilities, and legal obligations that every board member must understand, in practice and with confidence.

Morning content covers fiduciary duties, legal compliance under Canada's not-for-profit legislation, and the board's oversight role. Board best practices, financial oversight, risk committees, and conflicts will also be discussed. After a lunch break that provides an opportunity for networking, participants will engage in governance dilemmas on conflicts of interest, board-management dynamics, and director accountability, so they leave equipped, not just informed.

Participants gain clarity on fiduciary and legal obligations, a practical framework for governance decisions, and access to the ICD GTA Chapter's established director community.
