Speaking Up and Speaking Out Tackling Tough Topics (Session 1 of 3 )

An Intimate Three-Part Lunch Series for Experienced Corporate Directors

Effective governance today requires more than technical expertise — it calls for the courage to surface difficult issues, challenge assumptions, and navigate conversations with reputational, legal, or market implications.

This is a three-session lunch series for corporate directors who want to strengthen their ability to address sensitive matters with clarity and composure. Each session includes a moderated panel with experienced directors and small group discussions for candid insight sharing in a confidential setting.

Space is limited, and participants are strongly encouraged to attend all three sessions.

Across the series, participants will explore how to:

  • Raise difficult topics in both private and public boardrooms
  • Balance candor with respect for different views
  • Navigate high-stakes conversations under scrutiny
  • Strengthening board culture through constructive challenges
  • Apply lessons from venture-backed, private, and public company governance

This program is intentionally designed as a cohesive three-part experience among a cohort of directors, with each session building on the last. Maximize your learning, continuity, and peer connection by registering for the full series.

Seats are intentionally limited to ensure meaningful, high-value interaction.

Registration includes all three sessions and 3 CEUs will be granted for the entire series.

Session 1 :Governance in Private Boards: Raising Difficult Issues Behind Closed Doors

This session explores the internal dynamics that shape how boards function when difficult topics need to be raised. Panelists will share real life examples of moments when directors had to surface uncomfortable issues, challenge long standing assumptions, or address sensitive matters that could not be ignored. Participants will gain insight into how seasoned directors navigate these conversations, build trust, manage conflict and ensure critical concerns are addressed before they escalate.
