Fundamentals of Climate Governance

Build your climate competence through a self-directed, online module.

Climate change is affecting all sectors of the economy and the depth of its impacts will continue to grow. Boards must proactively integrate of climate considerations into oversight of enterprise risk and strategy to position their organizations for long-term success and avoid being at a disadvantage.

However, advancing this imperative is a complex undertaking and directors are grappling with where to begin, how to move forward and when to seek guidance. Important considerations such as how to proactively integrate climate change into the board agenda, ensuring the board has access to the necessary expertise and understanding why non-high-emitting sectors must take a proactive approach are top of mind.

Co-hosted by the ICD and Chapter Zero Canada*, Fundamentals of Climate Governance, a self-directed, foundational module, will introduce you to the World Economic Forum’s Principles on Effective Climate Governance and progress your climate governance learning journey to enhance your contributions to climate change discussions in the boardroom.

*The ICD is host of Chapter Zero Canada, the Canadian Chapter of the World Economic Forum’s Climate Governance Initiative. Chapter Zero Canada’s mandate is to mobilize the corporate director community through education based on the World Economic Forum’s Principles on Effective Climate Governance, as contextualized for Canada, on strategies to embed climate considerations into Canadian boardrooms’ strategic decision making.
