Alberta’s Productivity Gap — Why is it a Board Issue?

Getting Real about Innovation & Productivity—the Alberta Advantage: Unrealized | Session 2 of a 3-Part Series

Join fellow Directors and Executives in a provocative and engaging format designed to challenge how we think about productivity. With powerful stories from Alberta leaders and real-time interaction, this session brings productivity governance to life.

Series Context

The ICD Edmonton Chapter is hosting a three-part event series focused on the Board’s role in driving innovation and productivity. While often discussed, these themes remain under-leveraged in Canadian boardrooms. Alberta, in particular, shows considerable opportunity for leadership in both areas. This series is intentionally designed to provoke bold thinking, open dialogue, and practical action. Not just focused on why Alberta has a productivity and innovation gap, but what we—as Directors—are going to do about it. As stewards of our organizations, we are a critical force in shaping Alberta’s future.

Session 2: Alberta’s Productivity Gap – Why Is It a Board Issue?

Boards must move beyond retrospective oversight and become active enablers of productivity and innovation. This session explores how we may be inadvertently getting in the way—and how the right governance can unlock and empower innovation resulting in realized productivity. Expect candid stories from Alberta executives whose Boards have helped or hindered critical leaps in productivity and innovation. It's not about discussion for discussion's sake. It's about progress, risk tolerance, and daring to be different.

Leave this session with:

• a radically practical lens on productivity and innovation as a Board-level imperative.

• insights from leaders who have transformed their organizations by reframing productivity as a system, not a symptom.

• a wake-up call to identify how Boards can both challenge and champion innovative execution.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to challenge your thinking and drive meaningful change. Register now and be part of shaping Alberta's future!
