Building Together Trust, leadership, and stronger relationships with First Nations (Afternoon Session)

Building Together

Trust, leadership, and stronger relationships with First Nations

The Maritime Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors is pleased to present a distinctive in-person learning experience for board directors, executives, and government leaders who want to better understand how to work with, learn from, and build together with First Nations.

This is not a conventional session.

It is a focused, practical experience centred on real-world application, thoughtful dialogue, and peer exchange.

This afternoon session, including lunch, is limited to 90 participants and will feature:

• A keynote lunch conversation with Ian Smith, CEO of Clearwater Seafoods

• A session focused on building trust before formal partnerships begin

• A live Directors’ Dilemma, applying boardroom judgment to a realistic First Nations partnership scenario

• Dedicated time for discussion, reflection, and peer connection

Key Takeaways

Participants will leave with:

• A clearer understanding of how trust is built - and sustained - before and beyond agreements

• Practical insights into leadership approaches that support respectful, long-term relationships

• Greater confidence in navigating First Nations partnerships at the board and executive level

• Strengthened connections with peers facing similar opportunities and responsibilities

This program is designed for leaders who want to engage more thoughtfully, act with greater awareness, and contribute to stronger, more effective partnerships with First Nations.

Afternoon lunch and Program: Limited to 90 participants.
