Building Together Trust, leadership, and stronger relationships with First Nations (Morning Session)

Building Together

Trust, leadership, and stronger relationships with First Nations

The Maritime Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors is pleased to present a distinctive in-person learning experience for board directors, executives, and government leaders who want to better understand how to work with, learn from, and build together with First Nations.

This is not a conventional conference session.

It is a carefully designed day of experiential learning, practical insight, thoughtful discussion, and high-quality networking for leaders who want to strengthen their judgment and relationships in a rapidly changing environment.

A powerful way to begin

The day will open with the Blanket Exercise, one of Canada’s most respected experiential learning tools for deepening understanding of the historical and lived context shaping relationships with First Nations today.

This is not simply something to hear about. It is something to experience.

Because of the nature of the Blanket Exercise, participation in the morning session is strictly limited to the first 40 registrants. For those able to join, it will provide a powerful foundation for the rest of the day.

The afternoon program

The broader afternoon gathering, including lunch, is limited to 80 participants and will feature:

• A lunch keynote conversation with Ian Smith CEO of Clearwater Seafoods

• A session on building trust before the deal

• A live Directors’ Dilemma, designed to help participants apply boardroom judgment to a realistic First Nations partnership scenario

• A rich opportunity for discussion, reflection, and connection with peers

This program is designed for leaders who want to think more clearly, engage more credibly, and lead more effectively in building relationships and opportunities with First Nations.

Why attend: Participants can expect a day that is experiential, educational, interactive and rich in networking and discussion.
