About the ICD

The Institute of Corporate Directors is the definitive 'go-to' resource for Canada’s directors and boards.

As the national community for directors, the ICD is a not-for-profit, member-based association. With more than 12,000 members, 535 organizations and a network of 11 chapters across Canada, we are the only globally recognized director organization in Canada.

Our vibrant community welcomes directors (seasoned and emerging), C-suite and senior executives who aspire to serve on boards in the for-profit, not-for-profit and Crown sectors.

In offering a forum for engagement and dialogue, the ICD supports directors as they face a myriad of challenges. These challenges have helped to inform and catalyze the ICD’s strategic priorities:
  • Firmly establish the ICD as the recognized voice of directors in Canada,
  • Position the ICD as the go-to community for directors in Canada,
  • Deliver the highest quality and relevant education to make directors as effective as possible, and
  • Expand the ICD’s reach and influence internationally

What our members are saying:
“The ICD Directors Register served to broaden our network of potential candidates and connected us with qualified directors who we might otherwise not have come into contact with.”
