In fiscal year 2015/16, the ICD focused on providing our members with a strong voice on director issues in Canada and globally, outstanding educational opportunities in the classroom, through digital learning and at Chapter events and enhancing our services and resources.
 
This report presents updates on our strategic priorities in the final year of our 2014-2016 Strategic Plan.
 
For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016, ICD:
  • Grew its membership base to 11,166 members;
  • Graduated 512 leaders from the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program (DEP), growing the total course alumni to 4,386;
  • Awarded 452 ICD.D designations to DEP graduates, increasing the total number of designation holders to 3,381;
  • Facilitated the placement of 79 directors on boards through the ICD Directors Register;
  • Issued the position paper, ICD Guidance for Director-Shareholder Engagement, assumed an influential role in the changes to Canada’s takeover bid regime and took a strong position on director liability through ongoing advocacy and thought leadership initiatives; 
  • Chaired the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI) and assumed an active role in issuing two policy papers; Guiding Principles for Cybersecurity Oversight and a Perspectives Paper on Renewing the Board.
