A Global Perspective on Canada's Place in the World of Corporate Governance
We are again kicking off our program year with ICD President and CEO, Rahul Bhardwaj, who always shares fascinating updates on the current and future state of governance in Canada. This year’s kickoff event will provide an opportunity for an interactive discussion about the issues that Canadian Boards of Directors are focussing on relative to those in other countries, and what we can and should be learning from them.
In his role as ICD CEO, Mr. Bhardwaj has had the opportunity to travel the globe meeting with like-minded organizations, institutional investors, and various Boards of Directors. He served as Chair of the Board of the Global Network of Director Institutes (GNDI). These experiences have provided deep insight into governance practices around the world and Canada’s place globally. Issues such as climate, diversity, sustainability, public disclosure, politics, economics and artificial intelligence, as well as corresponding risk mitigation feature on board agendas internationally. Where do these fit on the agendas of Canadian boards?
It is more important than ever that Boards of Directors learn from as many practices, including from outside our borders, about how to master their roles as directors, how they assess risk, how they evaluate strategy, and how the organizations they oversee are ultimately governed.
Please join us for our 2024-25 kick-off event on Wednesday, September 18 for a wide-ranging fireside chat as Rahul Bhardwaj shares his insights into the current state of governance and where Canadian boards may be going in the future.
