Unpacking Group Dynamics for Board Effectiveness
Directors may gravitate to focusing on any number of important process issues such as board member recruitment/retention, director education, board evaluation, Chair selection, board agendas, efficient meetings – and the list goes on. However, at a base level, a board to be effective must function as a group. This session is designed to probe a bit deeper into those general concepts of what underlies how groups function and the correlation of that to overall performance. Dr. Ruth Kinzel will provide an insightful and thought-provoking review of how these underlying behavioral factors impact the functioning of the group and Nancy Hopkins will bring insights as to correlating that to practical experience in the board room.
